Avoid Ultram if you take the anti-seizure medication
Tegretol.
Ultram side effects will more likely occur if phase-in
steps of gradual administration are skipped to accelerate
rapid pain relief.
Always check with your doctor before combining Ultram ® with
other medications. The effects of either
medication could be drastically altered, especially
when taken with SSRI inhibitors (serotonin-boosting
antidepressants such as Paxil, Prozac, and Zoloft).
Ultram ® will add to the effects of alcohol and other
central nervous system (CNS) depressants (such as
antihistamines, sleeping pills, muscle relaxants,
barbiturates, and painkillers). Contraindications
for Ultram match those for opioid drugs, and may
cause acute intoxication when combined with:
- Alcohol
- Hypnotics
- Narcotics
- Centrally acting analgesics
- Opioids
- Psychotropic drugs
With Ultram use during pregnancy, reports show serious
harm to developing babies. Inform your doctor immediately
of any plans to become pregnant, and discontinue breastfeeding
since Ultram ® can be transmitted through mother’s
milk.
